Winter activities around Abondance

The ski area in Abondance has re-opened. To see a video about the re-opening, click here. Snow permitting, this lift is only a few minutes by ski from our chalet.

In the winter there are snow sports for all the family. From the village are marked snowshoe paths and cross-country tracks and there are regular shuttle buses to the Portes du Soleil ski fields which link twelve resorts, including Chatel, Avoriaz, Torgons, Morgins, Morzine and Les Gets. At the resorts there are slopes for all abilities and access to 650 km of pistes, 220 lifts and over 100 mountain restaurants as well as numerous snow zones for freestyle skiers and snowborders. There are also 50 km of cross-country ski tracks.

The ski areas are linked by lifts and there is a regular free ski-bus service which runs through the valley from Abondance to Chatel and Pre-la-Joux. The resorts are well served by multi-lingual ski schools which offer classes at all levels for individuals and groups. To ensure a reliable cover of snow on the lower slopes there are 90 snow cannons on standby.
